MARY GREENE Obituary

Life’s Journey

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?  The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid”

Psalm 27:1

Mary Ellyce Greene responded to the call of our Heavenly Father and passed away peacefully to eternal rest on Monday, August 6, 2018 at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.

Mary Ellyce was born February 17, 1937 in Uvalde, Texas.  She was the second daughter of Addie Mae Caraway Wright and Earl (stepfather) Wright. She was raised by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson (Maggie) Caraway. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, a brother, Earl Alonzo Wright Jr., and son, Adrian Renee Greene.

Mary Ellyce affectionately called “Tink” attended public schools in Uvalde; and a State School for the Blind in Austin, Texas during her high school years.  She persevered in life with trials and tribulations; triumphant with God’s Blessings.

Mary Ellyce married Ronald Greene and to this union three children were born: Adrian Renee, Kevin Renee and Gloria Lynn Greene.

Mary Ellyce accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age.  As a faithful servant in God’s sight, she played the piano on alternate Sundays at Mackey Chapel United Methodist Church and New Light Baptist Church in Uvalde, Texas. Tink also amazed her family with her musical talent and outspoken wisdom.

Mary Ellyce worked at the Lighthouse for the Blind in San Antonio for many years.  Her passion and expertise in braille and sign language was viewed as a motivating factor to others who wished to become independent despite their blindness.

Mary Ellyce, called “Mother” by her children and their friends; and “Nenny” by her grandchildren whom she loved tremendously. She modeled and expressed unconditional love for them all.

Mary Ellyce’s presence in her family’s life will be a loving memory and legacy cherished by her son, Kevin Renee Greene and daughter, Gloria Lynn Greene; sisters, Mattie Amos Brewer and Teresa Stevens; grandchildren, Latoya Greene, Keiston Booker and Marcus Booker; great-grand-children, Jamya Wilson, Kaja and Kaily Booker, Jayden Caballero and Lyric Williams; a host of nieces, nephews, loving neighbors and caring friends.

Mary Ellyce will experience eternal joy and peace when she is reunited with her son, Adrian Renee, whom she lost at his tender age of 16, and the presence of God in Heaven.

Mary Ellyce, We Love You! Rest in Peace.

“And God will wipe every tear from their eyes.  There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

Revelation 21:4
