LARRY WOODS Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Larry Arthur Woods announces his passing suddenly' at-the age of 67 years old on Saturday, June 22, 2019. Larry was born March 12, 1952, in San Antonio, Texas. He was the son ofthe late Arthur Woods and Jean McKinney Woods. Larry received his former education in the San Antonio Public School System. After graduating from Brackenridge High School in San Antonio, Texas, he attended Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas where he received a bachelor's degree in Physical Education and Biology and master's of science degree. Larry was probably the most-beloved teacher and coach of the North Forest 1.S. D., Fort Bend, Spring, Wilmer Hutchins and San Antonio I.S.D. school systems. Many remember him not only as a teacher and coach but also a mentor for his students or colleagues. One of his colleagues stated, "This man changed lives, and he gave kids confidence that normally would have been just pushed by the wayside." He had a strong interest and desire to work with and mold the minds of children. Larry's heart was always full of so much love and he deeply cared for his family. His family and those who knew him will miss him tremendously. He blessed the lives of many.

Brother Larry accepted Christ at an early age. After returning from Houston to his hometown of San Antonio, he became a faithful member of Wheatley Heights First Baptist Church. In his leisure, he enjoyed singing in the church choir, serving on the usher board and doing the church announcements. Brother Larry also enjoyed helping others, attending sporting events, playing sports and relaxing while watching television.
