John David Washington

John David Washington was born July 7th, 1927 to Nara West and Jimmy Washington in Centerville, TX. Upon completing his education John moved to San Antonio, Texas.

John was a hard working man, he had numerous jobs such as a roofer, machinist and sheet metal fabricator, retiring from Dot Metal-Stone Company in 1979. John also had many hobbies including fixing vehicles, going fishing, and playing Solitaire. His all time favorite was "Bingo".

Affectionately Called "Uncle Gobie" a name given to him by his father. John was a loveable and caring person with such a huge heart and helping hand to any stranger he saw. He would always give his last dollar in his pocket. He was a very wise man and always gave you words of encouragement!

Preceded in death by his parents Nara West and Jimmy Washington; his wife Alice Wright-Washington; his children Naran, Glenda and John David Washington II and numerous siblings and nephew preceded in death and John David Washington III.

John leaves to cherish his memories to his sons, William Donnell Washington of California City, California, Sammy Washington of San Antonio, Texas; daughter Teresa Dynes of San Antonio, Tx; sister Margaret Robinson of Lubbock, Tx; brother Lewis S. Washington of Kileen, Tx; a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends whom all will miss him tremendously. John went home to the Lord on May 30th, 2018.
