James P. Morrison was born in Oak Ridge Louisana, on March 11,1939 the only child to Allen Morrison and Azillie Gray. James moved to Detroit, Michigan with his family in October 1947. James attended, and graduated from Eastern High School in Detroit, Michigan. He joined the U.S. Army at the age of 17 and served 27 years with duty in Vietnam and served in Korea. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, (five) Good Conduct medals, The Army Service Ribbon, (three) Overseas Service Ribbons, (one) Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 device, Combat Medical Badge, Aircraft Crewman Badge, and Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm. He was a career MEDDAC, and later an instructor at AMEDDC&S at JBSA where he retired in1983.
He married Verlene Bryant on June 25 1960, married 25 years, James leaves to cherish his memory, (three) children Jamaine Morrison-Serrette, Tonyia Morrison, and Phillip Morrison, and (six) grandchildren, Anthony Serrette, Brae Morrison, Evan Morrison, Jaden Pitttmon, Brieanna Morrison, and London Morrison and (two) great grandchildren Lauren Crosby, and Braedon Morrison, along with a host of other relatives and dear friends.
