On December 31, 1947 in Andrews, Texas Joe Nathan Craig Jr. was born to Joe Nathan Sr. and Elvira Craig. Shortly after the family moved to Odessa, Texas.
Joe Jr. attended Douglas Elementary School. When he entered the sixth grade, the schools were integrated, and he attended Hays Middle School. In the ninth grade the family moved to Midland Texas, and he attended Carver High School.
At the early age Joe Jr. moved from Texas to California leaving behind a daughter Marlene Taylor. In Los Angeles Joe met and married Brenda Strett. To that union Joe Nathan Craig III was born.
In 1968 Joe joined the United States Marine Corp.
After returning home he was blessed with another son Antonio Fitzgerald Craig.
Joe later moved to San Antonio, Texas and joined New Greater Matthews Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Henry Lee Powell.
Joe later had another son Marshall Von Craig.
Joe was employed with Greyhound Bus Co. for twenty plus years. He joined the Mason Fraternity and then became a Shriner as well. He was a faithful member.
Joe was preceded in his home going by his parents Joe and Elvira Craig, one brother Marshall Van, three Sisters Frances Marie, Winnie Ruth, Pamela Jill, and one grandson Pierrie.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory one daughter, Marlene Brown, three sons, Joe Nathan Craig III and wife Anita, Antonio Fitzgerald Craig and wife Carolyn , Marshall Von Craig, three sisters , Romie Banks and husband Charles, Linda Price and Joyce Craig, four grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, too many to count nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and loved ones.
