FRED DAVIS Obituary

Fred Love Davis was born May 20, 1929 in San Antonio, Texas to Ferdinand and Octavia Davis, one of four children: Melvin (deceased), “Bro” (deceased). He met his wife Manuela (Torrices) Davis, in San Antonio, Texas. They were married for 35 years. His wife preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memory: Children: Laura L. Davis-McDonald (Melbourne) and Pamela L. Davis-Riles (James); that yielded his 3 Grandchildren: Kristine Elizabeth Riles, Crystal Marie Riles, Chancellor Matthew McDonald and Great-Grandchild: Kayla Love Riles.

Also mourning him: Companion: Clara White; Sister: Emma Marie Cloman; Children: Gayle Haven, Marilyn Davis, Deborah Carpenter and Kevin Davis. Also cherishing his memory, a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and fellow classmates.

Fred left home after high school to serve in the United States Air Force, where he served 2 years. After his military service, he went on to pursue a career in the Food Service Industry. His journey through the food industry led him from the San Antonio Country Club to the University Country Club, pinnacling at The Argyle Country Club, where he served as Maître d’ for 35 years.

Daddy was affectionately known in the community as “Sleepy Davis,” serving as President of the Phyllis Wheatly High School Class of 1947. He was a good, hard-working and generous man, always sharing words of encouragement and support. He was a provider for his wife and children. Not only did he sacrifice his own needs, he forged a path for his family, to obtain their dreams and endeavors. Referred to as “Sonny” by his sister Emma, he loved her dearly. He had so much joy from seeing his grandchildren grow from childhood and his “Kayla Love,” named after him, held a special place in his heart.
