EDWARD PEARL WILSON-DONNER

On August 21, 1942, Edward Pearl Wilson Donner was the second child born to the late Edward and Corinne (Patterson) Wilson in San Antonio, TX. Pearl accepted Christ and was baptized in November of 1954 at the New Light Missionary Baptist Church under the late Rev. Dr. P.S. Wilkinson Sr. serving on the youth usher board as President.  Pearl attended public school in San Antonio, graduating from Hicks Beauty School in 1958. Pearl married Walter Donner Jr. of Chicago, IL. November 16, 1958. To this union, three children were born. While married, she lived in Chicago, IL with her family until relocating back to San Antonio, TX in 1966. Pearl held many positions, working in various industries. She worked for Bexar County Mental Health Mental Retardation for over 30 years, retiring in 1998. Pearl attended Calvary Baptist Church for many years until officially joining Calvary in November of 1990 under Rev. Robert Miller Jr. She served on the usher board, youth usher board coordinator, and drove the Sunday school van. Outside of her career, Pearl was gifted artistically which lead to her hobbies of coordinating weddings and many other social events for family and friends. She also worked as the beautician for Lewis Funeral Home for over 30 years. Pearl was devoted to her twin sons, daughter, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Pearl was a force of light and love and became the family matriarch early, earning her the nickname “Lil’ Mama”; caring for family as a young girl and throughout her life. She carried out many traditions when spending time with family, but one of the most famous traditions was baking cookies throughout the Christmas Holiday as she was known for having quite the sweet tooth. In her later years, she wasn’t able to continue many activities, but was front and center at for any broadcasted San Antonio Spurs tip off.

Pearl made her transition on August 12, 2019.

Pearl is survived by her sons Chris Donner (Ann), Michael Donner, her daughter Darnett Dearring (Edgar), Brother, Claude “Bubba” Wilson, Neice Christine Wilson King and Nephew, Claude “Junior” Wilson, Jr. (Latanja) and Granddaughters, Erica Donner, Brooke Williams & Amanda Garza; Grandsons Kenneth Donner, Edmund Dearring, Nathaniel Donner, Derek A. Williams Jr., Chris Donner Jr., Edwin Dearring, Darren Dearring; Great-grandchildren Isaac Archer Pratt, Isabella Donner

She is preceded in death by her Father, Edward Wilson, Mother Corinne Wilson, Sister Pat O. Wilson, Niece Debra Wilson, Grandson Thomas Dearring, and Great Nephew Jordan Wilson.
