On a beautiful and glorious day, a bundle of joy was born to the late Enis L. and Rosie Lee Worthan Roberts, on August 6, 1932, in Menden, Louisiana.
Deacon Quinton Roberts accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of his father, Rev. Enis L. Roberts. He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church where he was a charter member. He was a Sunday School Teacher, President of the Sanctuary Choir, member of the Male Chorus, Senior Deacon, Courtesy Council member, and served as Church Treasurer until his demise.
Deacon Roberts graduated from Wheatley High School in 1950 and he received his Associates Degree from St. Philips College.
He enlisted for four years of active service in the United States Navy where he served as Gun Man on the Battleship USS Roan, during the Korean War. He also worked as a Fireman in the U.S. Navy Reserve and worked as a Radar Repairman until his retirement. Having a great love for children, he worked as a Bus Driver for the Northeast Independent School District.
Deacon Roberts met and married the love of his life, Jerry Dean Wilson Steen, and they became a blended family with five children. They enjoyed forty-eight years of wedded bliss.
Deacon Quinton Roberts was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Enis L. Roberts; mother, Rosie Lee Roberts; brother, Enis Roberts, two sons; Enis Roberts and Christopher Steen.
Left to cherish his life and legacy are his loving and devoted wife, Jerry Dean Roberts; sister, Bernice Taylor; brother, Alexander Roberts; daughters, Quinta S. Roberts-Ray and Kathleen L. Sanders; sons, Timothy R. Steen and Curtis W. Roberts; grandchildren, James B. Sanders III, Troy G. Brown II, Quienton Roberts, Timothy R. Steen, Briant K. Roberts, Monique S. Sanders, Charla D. Alexander, Michael J. Sanders, and Patrick Q. Steen; great grandchildren, Kaylee D. Sanders, Zoee L. Sanders, Evee J. Sanders, Kenedi Brown, Tre G. Brown, Cassius K. Roberts, Deakyn J. Sanders, Destinee N. Ingram; a special niece, Karen A. Ashley; and special grandchildren, Anastaja and Heavenleigh McRae.
