CONSTANCE SAMMONS Obituary

Constance Louise Sammons was the third child of the late Mr. Willie Earl Sworn, Sr. and Rev. Bertie Mae Sworn. She was born in Germany and lived there for two years with her family until they settled in Killeen, Texas. Connie attended the local schools and graduated from Killeen High School in 1975. She then matriculated at the Prairie View A&M University where she also performed with the legendary Black Foxes. Connie went on to attend nursing school through Temple Junior College, where she graduated in 1981.

Connie’s career has been dedicated to serving others. She relocated to San Antonio, Texas and found her passion for assisting seniors while working as a nurse for Silver Creek Manor. Connie has worked as a nurse and leader in various nursing home and hospital settings; including, Santa Rosa Reference Lab, Avalon Place, Broadway Lodge, and Scott and White Hospital. In all, Connie has devoted nearly 37 years in care of others! Connie’s last employment was through Epic Health Services, where Connie had the privilege of caring for a toddler with special needs. Connie quickly grew to love little Amari and saw her transition from a toddler to a pre-teen. Amari brought Connie pride and joy and Connie will be a missed member of the Williams family.

Connie was best known for her Madea-like personality. She was easy to talk with, quick-witted, and generous to a fault. Connie made a host of life-long friends and was a dedicated daughter, sister, niece, cousin, auntie, and mother. Connie made you feel like family the moment she met you. Connie was a “mother” to many, treating her nieces and nephews like her own. She also was “Mom” to numerous fur babies. Her heart was so big, she adopted, loved, and cared for: Snowflake, Precious, Pumpkin, Princess, Scruffy, Mister, and Snow. Above all, Connie was a committed and loving mother to Natasha. Connie and Natasha were not just mother and daughter, but they were best friends. Connie’s proudest moment came with the birth of her daughter and she would stop at nothing to provide for Natasha. Connie saw Tasha to and through graduate school, gave her a beautiful wedding day, and supported her adult life with love, friendship, and respect.

Constance leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Natasha Nichole (Tirrell) Wright of San Antonio, Texas; her siblings: Deborah Renee Hurst of San Antonio, Texas, Willie Earl (Linda) Sworn of Houston, Texas, and Vanessa Cujulia Stewart of Killeen, Texas; nieces and nephews: Sabrena (Michael) May, Brian (Amy) Hurst, Detrecia Webb, Tyrail Cole, Ryan (Valerie) Sworn, and Tyisha Stewart; great-niece Ameiah West; great nephews: Brandon Hurst, Aaron Hurst, and George May; and a host of cousins and family friends.
