CMSgt Leon Anderson was born on May 7, 1940 to the late Cornelius Anderson and the late Emma Jean Thompson in St. Louis, Missouri. Leon graduated from Summer High School and attended Harris-Stowe State College. Leon also went to Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, TX.
At age 19, Leon enlisted in the United States Air Force, and was stationed all over the country, and indeed all over the world. In 1965 Leon married Luelle Thibodeaux and together they had four children.
After a long and storied thirty year career, Leon retired from the Air Force. He then embarked on another successful career in civil service, where he worked for over twenty years.
Since 1992 Leon has worshipped at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and he was a dedicated member of both the men’s choir and mixed chorus.
On September 2, 2019 Leon went home to be with the Lord. Left behind to cherish Leon’s memory are his wife of nearly fifty-four years, Luelle, daughter, Tracey (Edward), son, Kelly, daughter, Karen and son, Terrence. Leon also leaves behind a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Extended family members include, his sisters, Lillie Hayes, Chezia Thompson-Strand, Bertha Darkwah, James Thompson Jr. and Claudine Thompson. Leon was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Jean Thompson, his father, Cornelius Anderson, his sister Louise Dickerson, and his brother, Joseph Anderson, Sr.
