Charlene Sanders Marshall was born on March 22, 1937 in Sharon, Mississippi. Her parents, Mattie Banks, Emmit and Bessie Sanders and her sister Maxine Brown and brother James Edward Sanders, Sr. preceded her in death. Charlene was the youngest of three children at the age of 81.
Charlene received her education and high school diploma from Lanier High School in Jackson, MS., Class of 1955. She continued her education later in life at University of Texas@ San Antonio, TX, when she moved to San Antonio in 1956.
At an early age she accepted Christ and was baptized in Madison County.
Charlene worked several jobs when she was a custodian at Wayne Bull Auto Parts came in her favor. The chief of operations noticed how intelligent and well spoken in English; he offered her an office job. Still she was to keep her custodian job also for the weekend. By 1975, she was head bookkeeper. She remained there at Wayne Bull until the company sold out to Toro Auto Parts in 1985.
Charlene was a member of Wheatley Heights Baptist Church and later united with Greater Tree Mount Temple Baptist Church until her illness occurred in 2007.
Charlene’s hobbies were cooking, baking, sewing, reading, fishing and taking good care of pets and have a stellar looking yard, front and back. She has often flown back to Jackson, MS to help her ill sister and mother Mattie.
She volunteered as secretary for the Wheatley Heights Council Board. Charlene and her husband loved traveling all over the country.
She leaves to cherish her memories one son, Ronald K. Sanders of San Antonio, TX, one stepdaughter Monica A. Ehrmann (Philip) of Houston, TX, 9 grandsons, 5 granddaughters, Virdell Bouldin (wife, Oye) who preceded her in death and Virgil Bouldin; sisters in law, Frances Sanders of Canton, MS and Jean Slack of San Diego, CA, and a host of nephews and nieces.
