BERTHA BAIN Obituary

Early Friday morning, August 1, 2019 at 6:33 am, death crept in and took Bertha O. Bain from labor to reward at Mission Trail Hospital, in San Antonio, Texas, Bertha O. Bain was the daughter of Mittie Laura Sims and was born September 28, 1938. She attended public school ill San Antonio, Texas and graduated from Wheatley High School.

She was a member of Greater Ball Tabernacle AME Church on the East Side of San Antonio, under Pastors Jeffrey and Sheila Thomas. Bertha sang in the choir and was a Class Leader, in 2009, she became a member of the Josephine P. Lydia Missionary Society - while active in the missiol1C11Y society, was head of the Sunshine Committee. a member of the Trustee Board, a member of the Steward Board and in 2015 and was elevated as the Steward Pro tem.

She also served the Grand Court of Calanthe, Wheatley High School Alumni Association, and the American Legion Auxiliary for many years,

Bertha had many friends and made friends with everyone she came in contact with. Her smile and aughter was contagious, She worked tirelessly for her church and her community. She loved sports and was always the life of the party. You always knew where you stood with Bertha Bain. She always meant what she said and said what she meant. She was a person you could always count on. She was always willing to give everyone a helping hand, She was a good steward over any responsibility that she was given. She passed away peacefully, as she journeyed to her eternal resting place. Sleep on Bertha, sleep on and take your rest. We all loved you, but God loved you best. God giveth and God taketh away and He's taken one of his most faithful servants to spend eternity with him.

She leaves to mourn her passing: two sons Clifford Calvin Bain and Ronald Charles Bain; one grandson, Ronald Charles Bain Jr.; one sister-in-law, Irene Thompson; one nephew and our nieces; and many friends. Her death was preceded by her husband Sgt. Clifford Bain; mother, Mittie Laura Sims; two brothers, George Harvey Mills and Clarence Thompson, Sr.; one sister Betty Jane Richard; one uncle, Aaron Pruitt, Jr.; one Aunt Willomena R Richardson; and one niece, Sophie Jan Thompson Womack.
