Barnie Irene Hollingsworth was born on March 19, 1921, the youngest of three children born to the late Harvey Brownlow, Sr. and Mozella Derry Brownlow in Houston, Texas. She departed this life to be with the Lord on October 14, 2019, at the age of 92.
At the age of 13, Mrs. Hollingsworth moved to San Antonio and lived with her mother's sister, Lillie Brown, helping her to care for her two young sons while her husband was overseas during World War II. She lived with the Brown family until graduating from Phillis Wheatley High School in 1945. She later moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where her older sister, Dorothy, lived. In Memphis she met and married Granderson Pryor and two children were born to that union - Clementine and Alan. That marriage ended in divorce and she moved back to San Antonio in 1952.
On May 25, 1952 Mrs. Hollingsworth united with West End Baptist Church under the pastorage of the late Rev. J.A. Kemple. On June 5, 1953 she married Jhue Hollingsworth. He became a loving husband and father to her two children. No children were born to that union.
As a member of West End Baptist Church, Sister Hollingsworth was a member of the Junior and later the Senior Mission. She also served as a faithful member of the Usher Board and the Condolence Ministry. Sister Hollingsworth attended worship services until her health began to fail and she later moved to live with her son and daughter-in-law. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children Clementine and Alan Pryor; daughter-in-law Deborah Pryor. granddaughters, Patina Pryor and Gayle Franklin and a hosts of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
