ALFRED LUCILLE POLK

May 2, 1937 ~ March 14, 2017 (age 79)

SISTER ALFRED LUCILLE POLK WENT HOME TO BE WITH THE LORD ON MARCH 14, 2017 AT THE AGE OF 79 BUT HER LARGER-THAN-LIFE PERSONA AND FEISTINESS WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. LUCILLE WAS BORN ON MAY 2, 1937 TO ALTO AND GERTRUDE MAYBERRY. AFFECTIONATELY KNOWN AS "MUDD" TO ALL THAT KNEW AND LOVED HER. WHILE !JIVING IN SAN ANTONIO SHE WAS GIVEN THE NAME "SUGAR PUDDIN" BY HER BROTHER-IN-LAW MR. HILLIARD JACKSON SIMPLY BECAUSE SHE WAS SO "SWEET". LUCILLE ATTENDED PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND GRADUATED FROM EDWARDS HIGH SCHOOL IN GONZALES, TEXAS WHERE SHE WAS A TALENTED BASKETBALL PLAYER AND TRACK RUNNER. SHE PARTICIPATED IN MANY OTHER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES. SHE PROFESSED HER LIFE TO CHRIST AT A VERY .EARLY AGE AND WAS BAPTIZED AT PROVIDENCE BAPTIST CHURCH UNDER THE LATE PASTOR JOSHUA. SHE SANG IN THE CHURCH CHOIR AND OTHER CAPACITIES IN THE CHURCH. LUCILLE LOVE THE LORD AND WAS ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP WHEREVER SHE COULD. AFTER MOVING TO SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS SHE BECAME A FAITHFUL MEMBER OF MOUNT ZION FIRST BAPTIST  CHURCH 50 PLUS YEARS UNDER THE LATE REVEREND CLAUDE W. BLACK. SHE REMAINED A FAITHFUL MEMBER UNTIL HER HEALTH BEGAN TO DECLINE. LUCILLE WAS JOINED IN HOLY MATRIMONY TO MR. LEONARD POLK, JR. TO THIS UNION TWO SONS WERE BORN LEONARD POLK III (AUSTIN, TX) AND LEON POLK (FT. WORTH, TX). LUCILLE EVENTUALLY REMARRIED TO MR. ANDREW JACKSON AND TO THIS UNION THREE DAUGHTERS WERE BORN. MRS. JACQUELINE C.  SMITH,  ANDREA Y. JACKSON (AUSTIN, TX), AND SONIA M. SPATES (SAN ANTONIO, TX).

LUCILLE WORK.ED IN THE HEAHH PROFESSION MANY YEARS, TAKING CARE OF OTHERS UNTIL HER RETIREMENT, MAY 6,2013. LUCILLE LOVED LIFE AND SPENDING TIME WITH HER FAMILY ESPECIALLY HER GREAT GRANDCHILDREN WHO AFFECTIONATELY CALLED HER "NANA". SHE LOVED TO GO TO VEGAS TO GAMBLE AND FISHING AT THE COAST. HER SMILE AND HER LAUGHTER WILL FOREVER BE MISSED.

SHE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HER PARENTS, ALTO AND GERTRUDE MAYBERRY; DAUGHTER, JACQUELINE C. SMITH; BROTHER, CLINNON MAYBERRY. SHE LEAVES MANY PRECIOUS MEMORIES TO HER CHILDREN ANDREA, SONIA (LAMONTE), LEONARD POLK III, LEON POLK; GRANDCHILDREN; COURTNEY (HALENNA), SEQUOIA, BRAYLON (CRYSTAL), RASHAD, LEONARD POLK IV; NEICE TONYA N. MAYBERRY (DALLAS, TX), A HOST OF GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, COUSINS AND MANY GREAT FRIENDS.
